Apple Pie Baking Competition

Apple Pies have been around, in various forms since the middle ages, although the pies of the 14th centuary were a little different to today with no sugar the pastry (coffin) was not designed to be eaten. What will your pie look like?

Judges: to be announced

Three categories: professional, amateur and student.

Conditions of entry:
1. Pie must have a bottom and top crust
2. Pastry of your choice, but no commercial mix or bought pastry
3. Presentation:
    - must appeal to eye and appetite
    - may be glazed
    - to be presented in the plate/dish in which it was baked

Apple Pie Eating Competition
Come and try your luck at the annual apple pie eating competition! If you think you got what it takes to scoff a whole apple pie faster than your competitors then get to the heat at your local pub. Remember to register early as places are limited. A small entry fee applies.

Heats will be held at:
Kangaroo Hotel, Maldon, Sat, Jan 30th, 3pm
Crown Hotel, Newstead, Sat, Feb 13th, 3pm
Elphinstone Hotel, Thurs, Feb 18th, 6.30pm
Theatre Royal, Castlemaine, Fri, Feb 19th, 6.30pm
Red Hill Hotel, Chewton, Sun, Feb 21st, 3pm
Harcourt Tavern, Fri, Feb 26th, 7.30pm
Applefest Main Stage, Sat, Mar 6th, 2pm & 3pm
Harcourt Applefest Finals at the main stage: Saturday 6th March, 4pm


Photography Competition

The applefest Photography Competition returns!!

Theme : “The Personality of Harcourt”

Categories:
Landscape: an expanse of natural scenery (may incorporate manmade structures such as buildings, dams and fencing
Portrait: a representation of a person to give personality (may incorporate any background appropriate, however the person is the focus)
Icon: any object as central to the image, including but not limited to animals, buildings, furniture, artwork, structures and food

There will also be a “Harcourt Award” from any of the 3 categories that best portrays the life/community of Harcourt

Junior and senior categories. Prizes & medals for winning entries.
Judges to be announced.
Winners announced Saturday March 6th at 11am.
